I lived in Kingston for many years as a young boy and always loved going to the old sections of the city.  Even then I seemed to have an appreciation for architecture and texture.
This image was made while on a weekend getaway with my beautiful wife, Meia, while we took a stroll through the downtown area of the city. I loved the dark shadows and shapes of this alley way and could just imagine myself as a kid ‘taking the short-cut’ through to the bakery around the corner on the other side.  The look is reminiscent of old Europe with the mixture of wood, stone and brick and the bright red door and window trim added that dynamic element you look for in a photograph.
